TS-Optics Cheshire Collimating Eyepiece for Newtonians & Refractors
Allows perfect Collimating of Newtonian telescopes and refractors.
The Cheshire eyepiece is the classic Collimating tool for Newtons and refractors. Light is directed into the optical path through a mirror polished aluminium insert. The collimation can be checked through a viewing aperture. At the telescope end of the Cheshire eyepiece there is an additional crosshair.
The Chesire eyepiece has a very wide stop edge. This means that even with somewhat larger 1.25" focusers, an exact stop is always defined.
Newtonian telescopes: In a correctly adjusted telescope, you will see the centre mark of the primary mirror and the reflected image of the secondary mirror concentric and centred on each other. Misalignment manifests itself in a shift of these elements towards and/or away from the centre.
Refractors: With a refractor, you get an image that ideally shows several concentrically arranged rings. The number of these rings depends on the type of objecticv. If the rings are not concentric, but shifted against each other, the telescope must be adjusted.
